“When you control the mail, you control information.”

October 12, 2012–The U.S. Postal Service announced earlier this week it would be raising their postage rates starting January 27, 2013. Although the Postal Regulatory Commission has the last say, with all the hoopla surrounding how broke the U.S Postal Service is, this comes as no surprise to online sellers.

While shipping rates will increase a sizeable amount, 3% of the rise will be for free tracking confirmation on all orders. Also, the U.S. Postal Service will introduce a new global “forever” stamp that will allow customers to mail first-class letters anywhere in the world for $1.10.Everything from stamps, postcards, and priority mail services will see an increase as the U.S. Postal Service tries to stay afloat from the $15 billion they’re expected to lose this year.
