Amazon recently announced their catalog of exclusive kindle books has been purchased, downloaded, or borrowed from the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library more than 100 million times. These exclusive e-books aimed at the Kindle line of devices are made available to owners of a Kindle e-reader or tablet or those with a Prime membership to borrow for free once a month, with no due dates. With over 180,000 titles in their library, Amazon is leading the way for online books.

Breaking News: Inc. says its Kindle Fire tablet has sold out, a week before the company is expected to unveil an updated version of the device.

A new program recently announced by Amazon lets authors make their titles exclusive to Kindle by joining the KDP Select program. According to Amazon, KDP Select books that enrolled in July of this year earned 77% more royalties from paid sales than the previous three months before joining the program.

“We have a huge library of books that are only available on Kindle, and they’re super popular,” Amazon vice president of Kindle Content Russ Grandinetti said in a statement. “Exclusive books are another great benefit for Kindle readers, and we’re going to continue to work hard to make sure the Kindle ecosystem is the best in the world for our customers.”

This news comes as no surprise as Amazon’s upcoming press conference moves closer. The milestone for Amazon indicates the company is likely to be gearing up for a launch of its next-generation Kindle e-reader and Kindle Fire tablet devices.
